CTHRA Releases Video on Workforce Diversity Best Practices
CTHRA has enhanced its collection of industry-specific resources related to workforce diversity with the release of a diversity best practices video. The nine-minute video identifies how workforce diversity impacts business goals and explores strategies employed by CTHRA member companies who earned a spot on the 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity®: Turner Broadcasting System (#21), Cox Communications (#25) and Comcast (#49). Members can view the video and download it for company use by visiting http://www.hotice.tv/HI_NCTA07_CTHRA.html.
Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting System, is among those who share their perspectives in the video. When asked why Turner Broadcasting is focused on workforce diversity, Kent responded, “We’re not doing this for the accolades. We’re doing it because it’s good business.”
The video also spotlights Pitney Bowes, a company outside of the cable industry that is considered a pacesetter in diversity. Mike Critelli, Pitney Bowes’ chairman and CEO, and Martin Murray, the company’s president and COO, detail how diversity practices have fueled innovation within their company and facilitated global expansion.
“The diversity of CTHRA’s board serves as a benchmark for what our organization would like to see throughout the industry. By releasing this video, CTHRA seeks to raise awareness of the importance and benefits of workforce diversity, and shine the light on strategies proven to help companies in their efforts,” said Juan L. Munoz, CTHRA’s president and regional vice president of human resources for Time Warner Cable’s Texas region. CTHRA’s 16-person board of directors includes 10 women and professionals from a variety of ethnicities.
Produced by Steve Nelson of The Cable Channel, CTHRA’s diversity video was broadcast to 72,000 Las Vegas hotel rooms during The Cable Show 2007. Atlanta Symosium attendees will be treated to a special screening of CTHRA’s diversity video on October 23, and members are encouraged to download the video and use it to raise awareness of workforce diversity within their companies. In addition to the video, members can review CTHRA’s Diversity Principles and visit CTHRA’s Resource Center to access a compiliation of recent articles, publications, statistics and benchmarks on the topic.
