CTHRA Releases Video on Workforce Diversity Best Practices
CTHRA has enhanced its collection of industry-specific resources related to workforce diversity with the release of a diversity best practices video. The nine-minute video identifies how workforce diversity impacts business goals and explores strategies employed by CTHRA member companies who earned a spot on the 2007 DiversityInc Top 50 Companies for Diversity®: Turner Broadcasting System (#21), Cox Communications (#25) and Comcast (#49). Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Turner Broadcasting System, is among those who share their perspectives in the video. Q&A with Cable Positive’s Steve Villano

Steve Villano is president and CEO of Cable Positive, the cable and telecommunications industry’s AIDS action organization. He recently spoke with CTHRA about how his organization is working to raise HIV/AIDS awareness and what we can eachdo to join in on the fight.
Q: When it comes to any workplace issue, it’s paramount to have a comprehensive strategy in place. What are the key elements for a successful approach to addressing HIV and AIDS in the workplace?
A: The most important tool in preventing the spread HIV and AIDS is information. For a comprehensive and effective HIV and AIDS workplace program, it is essential that there are key elements including a workplace policy, employee, family and friend education program, and resources in place at that organization.
This means that any workplace program is most effective when there is a workplace policy in place, they train their supervisors and managers, educate their employees, and make materials available for employees to share with those they love about how HIV is transmitted, what steps can be taken to protect themselves…
