CTHRA's Leadership Excellence Award recognizes the outstanding achievements of an HR professional, and the HR Best Practices Award highlights the bottom-line impact of an HR initiative. Eligibility requirements and awards' criteria are detailed at http://www.cthra.com/awards.php. CTHRA is accepting nominations through March 16, 2009. “In tough economic times, the strategic contributions of human resources professionals often become more visible throughout an organization. We encourage each of our members to reflect on the challenges that have been overcome during the course of the last year and nominate a deserving HR individual or initiative,” said Lynne Ramsey, CTHRA's president. Former honorees include The Weather Channel Companies; Cox Orange County and Palos Verdes; Mae Douglas, senior vice president and chief people officer for Cox Communications; and Brian Koenig, retired senior vice president of human resources for Scientific Atlanta, a Cisco Company. CTHRA will honor the 2009 award recipients at special luncheon during its Annual HR Symposium on June 9 in Silver Spring, Maryland. In addition, CTHRA will highlight the winners on its Web site and in an issue of its member newsletter, and the awards' media sponsor, Multichannel News, will feature the winners in its publication.
