CTHRA Launches Human Capital Metrics Research to Generate
Industry-Specific Benchmarks

Naperville, Ill., February 6, 2006 — The Cable and Telecommunications Human Resources Association (CTHRA) is expanding its portfolio of knowledge and information resources for human resources professionals with the addition of the Human Capital Metrics Survey. CTHRA is undertaking this research initiative in an effort to accelerate awareness of the importance of human capital metrics and to establish industry-specific benchmarks, which do not currently exist.

Saratoga, a PricewaterhouseCoopers Human Resources offering, will conduct the new survey and compile the report. Saratoga has been collecting human resource (HR) data for nearly 30 years and maintains the world’s largest database of human capital metrics and benchmarks. Saratoga will utilize an online survey to gather the industry-specific data on 25 metrics including human capital return on investment (ROI), manager ratio, diversity representation, HR headcount ratio, HR expenditures per employee, training cost expenses, voluntary separation, income per employee, time to fill positions, and compensation as a percentage of revenue.

“With an increasingly fierce battle for talent in the converging cable and telecommunications industries, measuring and managing the performance of a company’s human capital is critical. Organizations that really understand how well they manage and leverage their human capital have a competitive advantage,” said Lisa Chang, senior vice president of human resources for The Weather Channel Companies, CTHRA board member and chair of the CTHRA Metrics Survey Committee. “By participating in this survey, companies will gain access to much needed relevant benchmark information they can use to measure their organization’s effectiveness and modify their human capital business plans.”

CTHRA’s report will also enable participating companies to better understand internal HR issues, improve the management of HR expenditures, establish consistent reporting of human capital metrics, and strategically direct HR planning efforts.

Participating cable and telecommunications companies will receive individual metric results compared to the benchmarks established by the research, a customized company report, and an executive summary of the results. CTHRA will release the results this summer. Companies interested in participating in CTHRA’s Human Capital Metrics Survey can call Saragota’s Mike Bokina at 646.471.3379 or Shebani Patel at 408.817.7440.
