McIntyre will provide insight into how the industry is being transformed by technological advances, colliding competitive forces and changes in consumer behavior. As indicated by CTHRA's event theme, “Industry Transformation: An Opportunity to TAKE CHARGE,” HR professionals will play an instrumental role in the strategic planning and implementation necessary to excel in the rapidly changing marketplace. “Our industry is currently experiencing a combination of market forces that will have a seismic impact on how our companies operate. As a result, employers are re-evaluating everything from hiring and training to organizational structure and human capital analytics,” shared Tom Mathews, EVP of HR for Time Warner Cable Inc. Following McIntyre's industry overview, Mathews, Trish Jones, SVP of Strategic Audience Solutions for Turner Broadcasting System, and Peter Stern, EVP and Chief Strategy Officer for Time Warner Cable, will join the CTO on the stage to discuss their perspectives on the industry's transformation and the pioneering practices their companies are employing. After the morning general session, attendees will celebrate the achievements of CTHRA's 2010 HR Excellence Award winners, Turner Broadcasting Systems' HR Tech Team and the aforementioned Tom Mathews. Then, attendees will participate in an HR-centric breakout session of their choice: social media collaborations, public policy outlook, or the business of human capital analytics. The breakout sessions will be led by these dynamic experts: Mike Aitken, the Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM) Director of Government Affairs, Gretchen Alarcon, Oracle's Vice President of HR Fusion Strategy; Kim Billeter of Towers Watson, Michael Haught, Time Warner Cable's Vice President of Labor Relations; Mike Kabat, Partner at Wargo & French, and Karen Zifcak of Harris Corporation. The Symposium will conclude with an eye-opening session titled “HR Leaders and HR Functions: What Separates the Best from the Rest” led by renowned business strategist, Jim Shanley. During his 20-year career with Bank of America, Shanley spearheaded HR initiatives that earned the company a reputation as a benchmark performer for its leadership development and talent management programs and processes.
