A year ago, CTHRA’s board of directors initiated a three year strategic planning process, during which we developed a comprehensive roadmap to ensure we were meeting membership needs. First, we defined CTHRA’s vision in a succinct statement: to serve as the industry’s premier human capital resource. Next, CTHRA’s leadership carefully crafted a comprehensive plan, both strategic and tactical,  to make CTHRA’s vision a reality. We accomplished much on our “to do” list in 2007, such as the following:

  • Conducted three major research initiatives - compensation, employee benefits and human capital metrics - which provided industry-specific benchmarks you won't find anywhere else
  • Expanded the CTHRA community from 1,050 to nearly 1,500 members, providing you with an indispensable knowledge network
  • Dramatically expanded our members-only resources to include such meaningful topics as how to attract millenials while retaining boomers, benchmarking and ethics

The CTHRA Board is committed to solid execution of our plan throughout 2008 and thereafter. As a result, it’s quite an exciting time to step into the role of CTHRA’s president. Rest assured, CTHRA has much in store for you in 2008 and I urge you to be actively involved and make the most of your membership!

2008 Initiatives
I am pleased and excited to share with you just a few of CTHRA’s initiatives for the current year:

CTHRA will conduct a member survey to assess your needs, determine your preferred communication vehicles, and identify new resources you’d like CTHRA to provide. We want to hear from you and will use your feedback to shape the direction of our organization.  We want to be aligned with you and your expectations!

Also in the works is CTHRA’s inaugural HR Think Tank which will provide all members with an indispensable knowledge bank of innovative HR practices and time sensitive solutions specifically relevant to our industry.  The Think Tank is a “by-invitation” program comprised of the industry’s top HR leadership, and is sure to produce leading edge, innovative thinking which will be shared with CTHRA membership.

We’ll continue to update industry benchmarks and establish new benchmarks through CTHRA’s renowned Compensation, Benefits and Human Metrics surveys, as well asselect research initiatives. We also remain committed to ,expanding CTHRA’s online resources featuring industry-specific articles, benchmarks and more.

In addition, plans are already underway for a stellar Symposium to be held on October 14, 2008 in Philadelphia. Based on attendee feedback of this past October’s symposium in Atlanta, we’ll repeat the new format featuring multiple break-out sessions and a special address from an industry executiveMark your calendar now and plan to join us!

Each CTHRA board member is committed to ensuring that CTHRA is your preferred resource for HR solutions.  I encourage you to contact me directly or CTHRA’s executive director, Pam Williams, with ideas and input.  We look forward to serving you in 2008!
